Anything for revenge... « Thread Started on Apr 22, 2008, 9:59am »
“One ticket to London, please.” Rebecca asked the old man standing in front of her. Why she didn’t apparate? Simple… Rebecca didn’t feel like it. She heard that her ex boyfriend had been fired from his job in a crappy restaurant, and that he was now working on the train… controlling tickets. “What a wonderful life he must have.” Becca thought with her usual sadistic little smile. Frank has such a promising career in front of him, and lost everything the day he decided to ‘use’ the maid for something she wasn’t paid for. Or maybe she was… Becca had never known.
Wearing her Gucci bag and sunglasses with proud, Rebecca waited for the train to come. The sun was already setting, and she still had to spend at least 2 hours on the train until she would get home again. “Ah, I should have apparated.” But no. Why would she do that… showing Frank what he lost seemed way to tempting. Rebecca stared at the bag next to her. “Here, take this with you in case you get hungry.” Lillian, the maid, had told her before she left her parent’s house. Lillian was the nicest person Becca knew. One of the only persons Becca had always liked. She had gone to visit her parents; only to find that they had left for god knows what country again. “They could have told me they where leaving.” Nonetheless… Rebecca was always happy to spend some time with Lillian.
The train finally arrived with 16 minutes delay. “Ugh, muggle transports.” Becca thought while getting up and walking to the door. Getting on the train, it didn’t take long for her to find an empty seat, and before anyone could take the seat next to her, Becca put her bag on it. A few people passed, asking her if the place was available, but Rebecca just didn’t answer. She just stared at them with a cold look… and they immediately searched for another place to sit.
“Can I see your ticket please.” Someone suddenly asked next to her. Oh, the disappointment when Rebecca saw that it wasn’t Frank, but some middle aged man with a big brown moustache that had just asked her that. He glanced at the ticket before moving on to the next passenger. Rebecca stared outside until it was too dark to see anything anymore… except little lights passing by at high speed. She closed her eyes and listened to the passengers that where sitting a bit further. “Too bad that it wasn’t Frank that asked me for my ticket… Oh well, next time.” She thought and her sadistic little smile reappeared.

"Is this seat taken?"
"Yeah kind of.... since I'm sitting in it."
"Oh, well yeah."
"You know what, take it. It's yours."
damn him. damn him and his politeness. It was in his nature to act this way but he hated the fact that he had a rather hard time not being polite. Standing up from the seat and slinging his messenger bag over his shoulder, Zachary left his now vacant seat for the young woman who had requested it. He gave her a small smile before realizing exactly what he had done. Apparently at the time he was not thinking of how hard it would be to actually find another seat. Dammit again. Rubbing a hand over his forehead, Zachary's shoulder jerked backward and a large man shoved passed him, knocking his large stomach against his shoulder. "Sorry." Zachary mummbled rubbing his shoulder as he began his search for a vacant seat.
To be quiet honest, he didn't really give a damn who he sat next to. He could have to sit next Death for the rest of the trip but anything was better than having to stand. Adjusting the strap of his bag on his shoulder, Zachary pulled it over his head, hanging it on his opposite shoulder. The strap crossing over his chest held down the black tie knotted underneath the collar of his blue dress shirt. He shoved his hands into the pockets of his black dress pants as he continued his search. Zachary came upon a would be empty seat if the young girl sitting beside it would find a better place for her bag.
Screw it. "Hey uh... excuse me. Do you think I could sit here, there isn't really, well there isn't any open seats." Zachary asked the young woman referring of course to the seat her bag was occupying. By the looks of it, Zachary wouldn't have been surprised if he received and no from the girl and he kind of figured he would. It was worth a try though. Not usually one to prejudge, Zachary had this weird sense that this girl probably wasn't all that big on having to move her bag for anyone. Not that Zachary considered himself someone you would want to move your bag for anyway.

-“You know he’s a loser, what are you seeing in him? Look, sweety, you know I love you, and that I would do anything for you, but hire Frank as Vice president of my company? Are you insane?” “Daddy, you just don’t know him. He has such potential… I’m sure he’ll do a great job. Plus, I really want you to do this for me. Please?” Rebecca gave her dad a sad little look, look she always used when she wanted something… and it never failed. -“Ok, tell him to be here at 8 tomorrow morning. We’ll see if he really has as much potential as you say.” “Bingo.” Rebecca couldn’t wait to get home and tell Frank the great news. He had been looking for a job for a while now, but apparently no one wanted to hire him. Pushing open the door of the house, Becca had a strange feeling. The house was just too… calm. Slowly making her way upstairs, she heard a faint noise coming from their bedroom. Was Frank watching TV? Rebecca walked towards the door and stood there for a moment, wondering if she should open it or not. It was definitely Frank’s voice she heard, but what was he saying? And to whom belonged that other voice? Her hand trembled as she finally opened their bedroom door. What Becca saw that night was an image she would never forget… it was engraved in her memory for the rest of her life.
How could I be so dumb not to see what he really wanted from me?
Becca slowly opened her eyes again and took a deep breath. Even though her life was a lot better now, she was still haunted by the memories of her and Frank. Where did it go wrong? She didn’t want to admit it but Rebecca knew that Frank never really loved her… he probably already knew who she was before he even talked to her for the first time.
Rebecca stared out of the window again. How long had she been sitting here already? Taking her sunglasses off, she was about to put them in her bag when she suddenly noticed a guy looking for a seat. “Oh great.” She thought when she realised that the seat next to her was probably the last one in this compartment. Confident the guy would walk by Becca didn’t move her bag.
"Hey uh... excuse me. Do you think I could sit here, there isn't really, well there isn't any open seats."
“Damn it.” She let out a long sigh before finally picking up her bag and putting it on her legs without saying a word. “I really hate muggle transports.”

As the young girl finally seemed to acknowledge him, Zachary watched her as she removed her bag from the seat. With a small nod, he sat himself down, pulling his own bag up on to his lap and sliding the strap off over his head. The bag rested in his lap as he adjusted the tie around his neck, loosening it then tightening it back up again to his collar. Zachary had never been the social one and he really didn't think that a girl moving her bag for him to sit down would change anything about that. Lifting a hand off his bag, Zachary found the back of his neck and massaged it for a few seconds before placing it back down on the bag in his lap. Glancing around, Zachary's eyes took in the people in the compartments around them, they either seemed to be sleeping, reading or talking. Good way to spend time, he supposed.
"Thanks for the seat." Zachary heard himself saying even though he was ninety nine percent sure that he never signaled himself to start talking. He didn't really want to come off as one of those annoying train people who once they sit next to you they become your best friend without your consent. He felt it best if he didn't really say anything at all. Zachary's thumb tapped against his bag, apparently hitting the hardcover book that was inside of the bag and making a soft muffled tapping noise. His other thumb began the same action as he tapped to a beat of a song. Coming to realize how annoying that just might be to someone, He stopped almost immediately.
Lifting a hand and scratching his ear, Zachary glanced over at the girl sitting next to him. Once again without his consent, he found himself beginning to talk. "Zachary." He said blatantly, turning his head to look at the girl and holding out his hand for a formal hand shake. Once again, just the same with the seat, he didn't really expect any type of response of acknowledgment from the girl but, it was worth a try.

As soon as the guy had taken his seat, Rebecca checked her watch. “Ugh, I’ve only been on this train for 20 minutes. Just 1 hour and 40 minutes to go.” She couldn’t wait to get back home and take a nice long relaxing bath. Or maybe she could go for a drink before heading home… it wasn’t like someone was waiting for her anyway. She had been living there for a couple of weeks now, but Becca still didn’t know anyone in her town. She wasn’t exactly what you could call social… in fact, Rebecca hardly ever spoke to anyone and spent most of her nights at home reading or practicing a new spell. But for once, she didn’t feel like being alone that evening.
"Thanks for the seat."
His voice was like a call back to reality. Yes, she was still sitting in a stupid Muggle train that, to be quit honest, didn’t smell very nice. Becca gave him a small, almost invisible nod. After a brief moment of awkward silence, Rebecca opened her bag. She was about to take out her newspaper when she suddenly realised that the person next to her would probably have a strange reaction if he saw the pictures move, so she just took out a book instead. She had only read one page when a truly annoying tapping sound made it almost impossible to concentrate. “Muggles, why do they have to be so annoying!”
Rebecca rolled her eyes and pushed her hair behind her ears before trying to concentrate on her book again. After reading only 3 words the guy suddenly spoke again.
"Zachary." He said holding out his hand.
“I wonder if he’s like that every time he takes the train.” Rebecca didn’t really know what to do. Staring at his hand for what seemed to be an eternity, she finally reached out hers. “Becca.” She said with a little voice. “Well, actually it’s Rebecca, but I think Becca sounds better.”

Watching and listening as the girl introduced herself as "Rebecca, but I think Becca sounds better", Zachary gave a small nod once she shook his hand. There was something in his mind that wanted him and was urging him to speak up and possibly spark conversation with the girl, but of course something was contradicting and telling him to just stay quiet. Not knowing which one to side with, Zachary casually broke off the handshake and placed his hand back on his bag along with his other. Zachary's eyes searched the train for something, anything actually, that he could make into a conversation with the girl. He didn't quiet know why he was having a hard time with this, he was usually quick with a joke to start up any type of conversation. But his mind was blank and no jokes or ideas came to him, except for those really bad ones that only end up receiving pity laughs.
Exhaling a sigh, Zachary's mouth opened and the first thing that came to his mind spilled out of his mouth. "You'd think that for something of public transportation, they might have the decency to clean it up a bit." There was no ignoring the dirty train around them and certianly no ignoring the awful unidentified smell that eminated from the walls. This was the point in time that Zachary wished he hadn't sided with the 'let's talk to this girl' side of his mind. Zachary's head turned to the right and looked over at "Becca". He gave her a small practically three second smile before glancing around the train once more. He found it strange that this moment brought back the memory of that one girl who had told him his facial expressions were too "expressive" and too odd which she had made quiet clear was the reason why she left her table at the coffee shop and moved to somewhere away from him, facing the other direction.
