Lives get Lived (Crystal) « Thread Started on Sept 14, 2007, 11:07am »
A coffee and an iced bun. Preffreably with a cherry. Sitting in the mall, watching people live around him. Teenagers meeting their friends. Hassled mothers buying bored children last minute school supplies. A pretty witch that he'd had a hungover conversation with outside the greenhouses at school... or work... or jome... whatever it was, it was Hogwarts. Sean Mackin blinked, and she was gone. He must have been mistaken. What would Crystal have been doing in a muggle mall? It was probably just that he'd been hoping to bump into her since that conversation, and seen someone that looked a little bit like her wandering around.
Still. He'd have liked to have some company. He went back to his coffee and his bun, letting life get lived around him as he contemplated. He'd done alot of contemplating recently. Rarely leaving his rooms - even for meals, which he'd been having brought to him by a house elf.He was turning into a regular Sybil Trelawney. Minus the spectacles, muttering and cooking sherry. Not that this bothered him much. He reasoned that as long as he stayed away from the cooking sherry he'd be fine.
What Sean was contemplating today, as he so often did, was how simple things could be. Take the muggles around him today. A group of Death Eaters walk in, and with a few simple, well placed words it would be over for most of them. For the lucky ones. It was so simple to snuff things out.But it was also simple to let things be. The one thing that wasn't simple was starting something new. New things meant the unknown, and to people, the unknown was - is terrifying. Look at the way magic is treated by humans. They make a childs game out of it to make it less scary, because to them, it is an unknown. In the past, it was with fear and repulsion that the wizarding world was treated. Hangings and burnings, innocents killed all because people were scared of the unknown.
All these thoughts swirled in Sean's head as he stared at the steam rising fom his coffee. A thought about researching divination using steam joined the que of others waiting for his attention.
Absorbed as he was, inside his own head, he almost - but not quite - completely neglected to remember that he was sitting in a muggle mall. Eating an iced bun (now sans cherry) and drinking a cup of mud coffee.

Crystal sat in the back of the muggle taxi and played with her hair. She'd ridden in cars like this before so it wasn't anything special. Her long brown hair was in loose ringlets, and fell down her back merrily. Taking a deep breath, Crystal sat up as the taxi pulled to a stop. She handed over the money and smiled sweetly, before stepping out into the streets of London.
The cold wind pierced Crystals face suddenly, making her stumble back slightly. At least her sense of dress would keep her warm. A pair of tight, dark grey jeans. Stiletto boots over the top of them, and as for her upper half, Crystal wore a tight black tank top, and a grey cardigan over the top. It kept her warm, even if it didn't look like it.
Running her fingers through her hair, Crystal slipped her hands in her pockets and headed for a small cafe. She hadn't eaten breakfast this morning and she was getting rather hungry. She noticed a cosy looking cafe in the corner of the mall and walked over to it.
Ordering a tea and two slices of toast, Crystal went to find a table. She stopped dead as soon as she turned round and almost stumbled over. Sean. Sean Mackin. The very reason she had disappeared for such a long period of time. Standing in the same spot for at least 2 minutes, Crystal took a deep breath and walked over to the table, looking at Sean sympathetically. "May I.. Sit down please?"

The thought about steam was next. It was getting very excited about finally being thought, and was lining up a list of books that Sean could think about looking in when a bigger thought cut in front of it. A thought about a pretty witch with dark hair. Sean had looked up and seen the very person he'd been thinking about a minute before.
His jaw worked up and down silently for a few moments before he found his voice, and then it came out in a strangled gasp, so he cleared his throat and tried again. "Sure Crystal. I uh... Well... You..." He trailed off. Words didn't seem to be working with him today- he'd been too wrapped up in his own head to be suddenly confronted by a pretty girl. A very pretty girl. A very pretty girl who he hadn't seen since he asked her out.
Eventually he managed to get over his surprise enough to smile a little self consciously. "You look great." he managed to say. "How... um... How have you been?" He tried wrapping his hands around his mug for something to do, and realised that it had stopped steaming. Not only that, it was now stone cold. He frowned at it. He hadn't noticed that happening.

Crystal slid into the chair gracefully and placed her tea and toast onto the table. With a sweet smile, she bowed her head so her hair fell simply beside her pale face. Taking a sip of her tea, Crystal lifted her head and stared straight into Seans eyes. Something she hadn't done for a long time.. She longed to do it once more, and there they were.
With his compliment, Crystal blushed and smiled, pushing her hair over hair ear. "Thanks.. You look good too." It was an awkward moment between them, and Crystal was used to it. She imagined it would be like this after so long. "Pretty good thanks.. I'm sorry I didn't contact you in a while.. I've been searching for an ancient remedy in the Alps to cure some.. Weird disease thing my Un.." Crystal lowered her voice, and her head and continued. "Unicorn. He's sick, well he was. All better now.. I should have contacted you I know. And I really am sorry.. Anyway, how have you been?"
Smiling gently, she put her hand slowly ontop of his mug and closed her eyes, steam instantly bellowing of it once more. "New trick I learnt.. No wanded magic. Wouldn't want to pay again would you?" She giggled and sat back in her chair.
Would you mind if I hurt you? Would you mind if I killed you?

Sean's breath caught as Crystal looked straight into his eyes. Bloody hell, she was even more beautiful that he'd remembered. Of course, the last and only time they'd met he'd been blearily hungover, so his memory was somewhat faded. She thinks you look good. Don't blow this buddy. As ever, something in the back of his mind was present, making him second guess everything he said or did. He resisted the urge to tell his brain to shut up. He was pretty sure that would have made her run out of the cafe screaming.
Unicorn? Sean's mouth formed the word, but he didn't say it aloud. The jolly face of the cafe owner was ver carefully not looking at them, and he was fairly certain that she was listening in on their conversation. "Well I'm glad he's better." Sean smiled. "You were worried about your... pet." He added, "Keeping in touch with a guy you'd only met once probably wasn't at the front of your mind." Shrugging, he picked at the icing on the top of his bun, hiding his surprise that he was a slightly jealous of a sick unicorn. He made a mental note to stop being such a horrible person.
"I've been..." He faltered, not quite sure himself. "Well, I've been kind of lonely, to be honest. Not talking to people much. Haven't been sleeping well either." He couldn't stand to sleep. Since the ball, he'd been having dreams about people he didn't know and places he rarely recognised. The dreams were never very nice and always very vivid, and a couple of times he'd recognised the people in The Prophet a few days later.
He grinned when she warmed his coffee. "Neat trick- you'll have to teach me that one." he laughed. It could come in pretty handy, not having to reach for your wand. And not paying for warm ups in muggle cafes seemed to be a bonus too.

Crystal listened to his delicate and gentle voice speak. Her mind wandered into it's own, and created images of them together. Maybe ones she shouldn't be thinking of right now. "Yea, I'm glad he's better too.. And I'm sorry. I really am. I had no way to contact you.. I don't use owls, I didn't have a number, or anything.. So I guess I owe you this.." Pushing herself up using the table, Crystal leant over and kissed Sean softly on the cheek, before retreating and sitting back in her chair, her cheeks going a mild pink.
"And it's not good you've been lonely.. I hope I can ease some of your.." Crystal pierced her lips together and shuffled in her chair. "Loneliness. It's never good to be lonely. I should know. I've spent most of my life alone." Shrugging, she took a sip of her tea and nodded afterwards. "Definately. It's pretty easy.. Once you get the hang of it."
Flipping her hair out her face, Crystal smiled sweetly and pushed herself closer to Sean in her seat. "So.. We should make up for the time we lost. Well.. I should.. You wanna come round mine one day? Ya know.. For coffee, or.. Tea?"
Would you mind if I hurt you? Would you mind if I killed you?

Sean shook his head, smiling as Crystal began to apologise. "Realy, it's ok. You don't have to..." She kissed his cheek, and shut him up mid sentence. "Actually, if all your apologies come like that, I guess you can carry on." He said, blinking to try and clear his head. No one, not even Hollie or Freya his two best friends had kissed him recently, and he was enjoying the novelty of it.
He shrugged. "I've got used to my own company. And you'd be amazed how good conversations with house elves can actually get. They're fun little guys" He drank some of his coffee carefully. She'd warmed it very thoroughly. "Although sometimes I could have done with some human company. You can only discuss the merits of different cleaning spells for so long, you know?"
Her hair, thick and dark, moved away from her face as she flicked it. It was a simple movement, but Sean suddenly found himself battling the urge to lean forwards and return the kiss that she'd given him a moment ago. "I um..." He cleared his throat, and tried to get his mind back onto the conversation. "I'd love to go to your place." He said, smiling back at her. She'd moved closer. It wouldn't take much to lean over and... no. What if she had only kissed him because she felt she owed him? She had said something along those lines. "For um... tea or coffee. I'd prefer coffee though, never could get he hang of drinking tea. Like I said I could do with some human company." He spoke quickly, a little nervous. He had never been good at talking to pretty girls.
