Modern Girls Always Get Their Way (Danni) « Thread Started on May 15, 2008, 4:17pm »
"Okay woah, that is a pretty strong accusation, I think you should maybe just calm down. No, don't throw that at me. Just put the bottle down, and step away."
With his shoulders slumped in a rather relaxed fashion and his tone reflecting this relaxing and calm disposition, Zachary held his hands up in defense as his thick eyebrows rose high, asking a question with his facial expression. It was a funny story how he had gotten to be in this situation, apparently the stout man behind the bar had thought Zachary was eyeing his wife, a rather old woman, as she wiped down a nearby table. At the moment, it was taking almost all of Zachary's will power to keep himself from laughing at the accusation. At the moment, the man was standing in front of him shaking a bottle of whiskey in his direction. The man came to Zachary's stomache and had his head tilted upwards to look at him.
Zachary lifted a hand and scratched his nose before continuing, "I can assure you that I was not looking at your wife. I'm sure she is a lovely woman, but she is not my type." He gave a shrug and shook his head, trying to hide the smile he felt coming to his face. The small man looked at him before making a low grunting noise, turning around and heading behind the bar with his wife at his side. Zachary stifled a laugh after the man was out of sight and shook his head. He shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans before turning on his heel and deciding that his thirst was not that important and it would be for the best if he just left.
Leaning his shoulder into the door of the pub, it opened and Zachary headed outside, feeling the noticeable change in the atmosphere and the air itself. He stopped in front of the door with his hands still in his pockets, his mind replaying what had just happened just a few seconds of go. Zachary's eyebrows rose once again and he sucked in his lower lip, shaking his head still no really believing the events that preceded. Storing the events in the back of his mind, figuring it would make a great dinner conversation sooner or later, Zachary became rather oblivious to the fact that he stood in front of the pub's door, blocking anyone from going in and coming out.

The sky was dark, just the way she liked it. It was fitting due to her rather horrid mood. It wasn't exactly Danni's choice to be an utter bitch twenty-four/seven lately, but that was to be expected in a way. She'd managed to mess her life up pretty badly. Now she just needed a way to forget everything. Naturally the Hog's Head was the chosen destination. She'd pulled on her tightest pair of jeans and a black top before shoving her feet into a pair of heels and heading out. She didn't want to be alone in her apartment any longer, and that was for damn sure. Now that she was in the street, the air seemed to clear her head, not that she really wanted it that way, but why not? It couldn't hurt.
All thoughts of recent, and not so recent, events seemed to melt away as Danni ignored every thought that entered her mind. She sighed and shook her head lightly, letting her blond hair fall around her face. The Hog's Head was down the street now, and she could make out a figure out front. It was a male and he seemed to be blocking the door. Well that sure put a damper on her already sour mood. As she got even closer, however, she heard noise from inside. So it wasn't closed, she just had to get around this guy. Only problem was that he was standing directly in front of the door.
"Hog's Head trying security now or what? I must say, with the type of people that come here, you sure as hell don't cut it, sweetheart."
Oh yeah, Danni was short physically. She reached the impressive five foot four. Five seven in her impressively tall shoes, but she was definitely on the shorter end. Her arms crossed reflexively over her chest as she looked at this guy. It wasn't that she didn't trust him. Quite the opposite. He looked so harmless it actually humored her. What he was doing around the Hog's Head she would never guess. In fact, people might mutter the same thing about her. Talking a step closer, Danni crossed in front of him and looked him up and down. She stayed still and just looked at the door behind him. "Think someone might be able to get by you? Or are you just gonna stand there all night?"

Rolling his eyes up so he had a strange angle of the sky, he let out a sigh before his attention was grabbed by a voice of a women had honestly hadn't even noticed. He pulled a hand out of his pocket and scratched his jaw line as he directed his attention down to the girl. A small smile escaped onto his lips as he gave a quick mental estimate of how tall she just might be. Cocking a thick eyebrow at her words and making a rather strange facial expression, Zachary realized that he must've looked pretty stupid; standing there shifting through expressions.
"Oh, well you know, I'm working on it; I've been practicing looking angry and being more of an asshole. I have the standing by a door part down so, yeah, I'm almost there." Zachary commented with a small shrug and his eyes widening a bit completely out of habit as he did so. Looking over his shoulder at the door, he turned back to the girl and gestured with his thumb over his shoulder raising his eyebrow as he did sarcastically. In a mocking fashion, Zachary crossed his arms over his chest for a few seconds before uncrossing them and sliding one hand back into his pocket as he scratched the back of his head with his other. In his honest opinion he would admit that this girl looked like she could kick his ass, but of course that didn't stop him from his old habits.
In response to her next question, Zachary shrugged and sighed, looking around as he did. "Well I kind of planned on standing here for the rest of the night but, if you really have a need to get by, then I suppose I could make an exception." Nodding at these words, he still made it an effort not to move away from the door. This all seemed to come to him very humorously and Zachary really couldn't see the harm in keeping it going for a little bit. He figured sooner or later he might strike a nerve with this girl which would end with either him getting his ass kicked or him just becoming the annoying guy who wouldn't move out of the way. In all seriousness, Zachary hoped it was the latter, well that is if he had to choose between the two.
Lately, Zachary felt as if he was losing his touch. Losing his quick with a joke personality which honestly was all he really had left. If he lost that, he'd be a rather dull person. Well, duller. With both hands in his pockets and a small grin on his face, Zachary rocked back and forth on the heels of his feet before stopping and raising an eyebrow down at the girl. Once again, there really was no reason why he didn't move away from the door like she had asked ever so politely, he was just slowly shifting from his sweetheart ways and gradually becoming more of an asshole; Zachary felt it was for the best, when he knew it really wasn't.
The sudden urge to speak flooded over him and of course, without his mind's consent, he obeyed. "You're not gonna kick my ass are you?" Zachary asked her with a small hint of a 'I'm kind of afraid of you' tone burying itself underneath the overall ridiculousness of the question itself.

A sarcastic laugh escaped her mouth before she could even think about what she was doing. Not that being rude was terribly uncharacteristic of Danni, but she usually tried to hold off until the person had made clear they weren't going to cry their eyes out. For some reason, she thought this guy could handle it. "So all you really do is stand by the door and look like what you think intimidating looks like?" Nodding slowly, a twisted smile curved the corners of her mouth up. "I hate to break it to you, but your 'intimidating' expression just looks adorable and overly friendly. We don't like that type around here."
"I see. So you were going to stand there. Hmm. That means I either have to use force to get in or ask you very nicely. I can tell you right now one of those things is very uncharacteristic of me. I'll give you one guess which." Of course she didn't actually expect the guy to answer, but with what she'd seen of him, she had this slight feeling he might anyway. He seemed like the type to respond to rhetorical statements. Danni looked down at her hands and cracked her knuckles reflexively. With another smile, she looked back at the guy in front of the door. "Well then. What do you say I go in... what's your name? I am caring enough to learn your name before I do something I might regret later."
Another laugh. This time it was twisted or evil though. It was just a genuine laugh out of amusement. "I'm sorry. I just find that question hilarious coming from someone so obviously larger than myself." She cleared her throat and regained her composure rather quickly. Her eyes looked him up and down once before she shrugged at him. "Honestly, I might. You're not exactly the biggest guy I've ever seen." Danni had trouble keeping a straight face, which made her smile again. "Honestly though, no. Probably not. No offense, but you're not exactly worth my time. You're just preventing me from drowning myself in alcohol. Maybe I should be thanking you for potentially saving my life. Probably not though."
Crossing her arms, Danni maintained the eye contact she had with him. He didn't exactly seem like a bad guy, so why was he hanging around the Hog's Head? He probably would get his ass kicked by someone if he just stood around looking like a confused and lost puppy. "Look. I'll make you a deal. Let me inside, and I'll buy you a drink. I fear what might happen to you if you're left to your own devices. Like I said, you don't quite have intimidating down yet."

He did his very best to keep a straight face and not burst out laughing in front of this girl. He had to admit she was pretty funny but in a weird 'I'm a bitch' kind of way. Having dealt with many, many women like herself in the past, he knew how to handle them - not in that way, I know what you're thinking - in a conversation. It was pretty simple, just a trick of matching sarcasm with sarcasm. "Well as you might already know, I'm a not a very intimidating person, so obviously I'm gonna need some lessons, but I think over time I will gradually become more and more scary. We can only hope." Zachary shrugged with a small smile. "However, 'adorable' not what I was really going for, but I will take it as a compliment so, thank you." He smiled as he placed his hands back in his pockets and looked out over the girl's head at the crowd of passersby behind her before turning his attention back to the girl.
Rolling his eyes up in thought at her rhetorically asked question, he chewed on the inside of his lip before answering, "Um... what is ask very nicely." He responded in a rather stupid way as if playing Jeopardy. As she spoke, Zachary was very quick to answer her question about his name, cutting her off from her sentence he said hurriedly, "Zachary. Uh.... my name's Zachary." After realizing how persistent that had sounded, he cleared his throat lightly before saying, "Just in case you were wondering... yeah."
If he had to admit it, he definitely would, this girl was rather strange, hence the weird laughing that made his cock and eyebrow down at her once again. Honestly, she was starting to creep him out with the laughing. With a small shrug at her words, Zachary rolled his eyes. "Well maybe that's the thing, looks are deceiving you know. I could be a serial killer, and just because I don't look like one, you'd never know it." He gave a satisfied smile and adjusted his position in the doorway, turning so that his back was no leaning against the frame. "Not worth your time. That's not a very nice thing to say. So quick to judge on someone you barely know." Zachary looked through the window on the door and shook his head. "Drowning yourself in alcohol." Zachary mimicked her again, "That's a good way to handle." He paused realizing just how much of an asshole he sounded at the moment.
Turning his attention back to her after hearing her 'deal', Zachary grabbed the handle of the door and pushed it, holding it open with his arm and waiting for her to go in. "I got a better idea, how about I'll let you in and you can help me get those intimidating looks down." He gave her a small smile, wondering if he'd run into another problem with the owner and his wife this time around.
